Casado received the go-ahead and may now be included in the matchday squad for Saturday’s La Liga trip to Real Mallorca.

The 19-year-old did play for Barcelona during the preseason, but he then transferred back to Barca Atletic, where he has played in each of the team’s five games thus far.

Despite playing in midfield most of the time, Casado has full-back expertise and has been recommended to play there by Carles Martinez, the manager who signed him to a contract with Barcelona.

“I was surprised when I saw him as a winger, but he is a very intelligent player who understands the game. It is true that he is used to playing as a midfielder but he is dynamic and fast,” he said.

“I think Marc could adapt. He can play as a more internalized winger or close out three playing like Koundé was doing.”

There will questions about the right-back position and Marc Casado for Xavi in tomorrow’s pre-match press conference as the Barcelona coach looks forward to Saturday’s game.

Manchester City are set for contract renewal talks with Bernardo Silva, whose future is considered unsettled. And they will listen to offers starting at 80 million pounds, which is about 90 million euros for the midfielder, according to the latest report from England.

FC Barcelona have long been linked with Silva, who has grown into a star at Manchester City.

No formal bids were tabled, but the interest was always there. Despite this, City and their manager, ex-Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola, want Silva to stay with them.
