West Ham Announce Vlasic Capture As Ademipo Odubeko Joins Huddersfield On Loan

West Ham have completed the signing of CSKA Moscow attacker, Nikola Vlasic, a statement on the club’s website has revealed.

Formerly a target for Italian side, AC Milan, Vlasic joins the Hammers for a reported €30 million after agreeing a five-year deal with the English club.

A move to Italy seemed close for the Croatia international, but Milan inability to meet the demands of CSKA Moscow meant that the player had to consider other options.

A statement on West Ham’s official website reads:

“West Ham United are delighted to announce the signing of Croatia international attacker Nikola Vlašić.

The talented 23-year-old arrives on five-year deal for an undisclosed fee from Russian Premier League club CSKA Moscow.”

Vlasic joins the Premier League outfit having represented Croatian side, Hadjuk Split and fellow Premier League club, Everton before moving to Russia. At 23, he’s appeared in over 250 matches, a clear indication of just how experienced he is.

Speaking after the move was announced, West Ham manager, David Moyes said that: “I am delighted to welcome Nikola to West Ham United, I have been watching Nikola improve over recent seasons – he has got a good goals and assists record during that time. He is also a Croatia international with experience and still being only 23, I feel there is more to come from him. 

“I was really impressed with how determined Nikola was to become a West Ham player. It’s that hunger and ambition that fits with what we are trying to build here at the Club.” concluded Moyes.

West Ham’s British-Nigerian forward, Ademipo Odubeko, has agreed a new contract that will keep him at the club until 2023.

“Mipo” as he’s usually referred to by the club, was one of the standout performers for the Hammers in development football last season, scoring 14 goals in 12 Academy appearances whilst winning the Premier League 2 player of the month award for April.

The 18-year-old has now been sent on loan to Championship side, Huddersfield, following the extension of his contract to further continue his development.

Ademipo has represented the Republic of Ireland at various youth categories, although he could still represent both Nigeria or England at senior level.
