The Rossoneri even had an injury scare as first choice goalkeeper, Mike Maignan was stretched off injured in the 81st minute to be replaced by Marco Sportiello. While one goalkeeper was having a nightmarish game, another was having a game of his life as he helped his team to grab a late equalizer.
At the stadio Olimpico, Lazio faced Spanish LaLiga side, Atletico Madrid in a later game and they needed a late goal to grab a point from the game. It was an even game between the two teams before Atletico took the lead in the 29th minute through Pablo Barrios.
The Spanish side really tried to hold on to the win until the last minute before a moment of magic from the goalkeeper secured a 1-1 draw. Luis Alberto produces a brilliant lofted pass and Ivan Provedel gets on the end of it to finish with a header into an empty net in what was practically the last kick of the game.

He made history and became only the second goalkeeper in Champions League history to score, apart from a penalty, as he snatched Lazio’s last-gasp draw against Atletico Madrid. He made the difference, as an Alberto cross came in and Provedel ghosted through defenders for the glancing header from six yards to beat his colleague Jan Oblak.

Before Provedel, the only goalkeepers to score in the Champions League were Vincent Enyeama in September 2010 and Sinan Bolat in December 2009. An Italian goalkeeper had also scored in a different UEFA competition, specifically Marco Amelia in Partizan Belgrade 1-1 Livorno in the 2006-07 UEFA Cup.
It Is, however, nothing new for Provedel, because he had also found the net in Serie B when securing a 2-2 draw between Ascoli and Juve Stabia in February 2020. In the other games in their group, Feyenoord defeated Celtic 2-0 and PSG also defeated Borussia Dortmund by the same score line.
