On Saturday, the 25-year-old showed off his playmaking abilities once more by setting up Diogo Jota for The Reds’ opening goal against Burnley with a precise cross.

With this most recent assist, he has an incredible total of 58, making him the defender with the most assists overall since the current top flight was formed in 1992–93.

Though the match was still tied at one goal apiece when Jurgen Klopp pulled the England international after halftime, there remain questions regarding his fitness.

The 25-year-old’s potential extended absence would be a serious setback for Klopp, who already have Mohamed Salah and Dominik Szoboszlai on the treatment table with Alisson missing the game against The Clarets because of illness.

In December 2022, Alexander-Arnold overtook fellow full-back Andy Robertson (57 assists), who had previously held the record held by former Everton defender Leighton Baines.

After injuring his shoulder while representing Scotland against Spain in October, Robertson missed three months of action. However, on Saturday afternoon, he made his first league start since the injury.

In the event that Sheffield United is demoted to the Championship, Aston Villa and the Blades have allegedly agreed to resign Cameron Archer in the summer.

Prior to the 2023–24 season, the 22-year-old moved from Villa Park to Bramall Lane in a £18 million transfer for the Englishman.

The England Under-21 international has made 22 appearances in the Premier League for the Blades this season, scoring four goals for the struggling team. Aston Villa and Sheffield United have an agreement in place that would require the former to release Archer should the Blades fail to avoid relegation, according to the Birmingham Mail.
