Tottenham Hotspur Take A Decision On Two Players On Loan As Joao Felix Looks To Be On The Move Again

Written By Onyeka Daniel

It hasn’t been a favorable season for Tottenham Hotspur both in the EPL and in Europe as they crashed out of the UCL knockout stage early and also finished outside an European placing on the EPL table.

More Details

There’s expected to be an overhauling of the squad with the future of several players in squad far from certain, but first, the club will have to sort out the issue of appointing a new manager as Ryan Mason is expected to step down from his temporary role.

Consequently, several players are expected to leave with Harry Kane the most high profile one as the interest from Spanish side, Real Madrid grow stronger with each passing day. But the club have already taken a decision on two players on loan at the club, Dejan Kulusevski and Arnaut Danjuma from Juventus and Villarreal respectively.

Kulusevski was picked up in January 2022 on an 18-month loan deal worth €10m with an option to buy that would become an obligation if they qualified for the Champions League. Seeing as Spurs missed out, they will reportedly try to negotiate a discount with Juventus if they are to purchase

Kulusevski on a permanent deal. The Bianconeri are backed into a corner, as they are already bound to miss out on plenty of money this summer because the players they loaned out with option to buy have not been picked up and coupled with their financial issues, they would gladly take any reasonable fee for any of their players.

Kulusevski contributed only two goals and eight assists in all competition for Tottenham Hotspur this season. For Danjuma, having fallen out of favour under Quique Setien earlier this season, he was sent on loan in January.

A deal had initially been agreed with Everton, before Tottenham swooped in to steal him from the Toffees . However, the move failed to work out for both parties, as Danjuma only played a handful of games for Spurs, with just one of those being from the start.

Villarreal had agreed a £27m buy option with Spurs, should they decide to sign him on a permanent basis. However, they have decided against this, according to Fabrizio Romano, meaning that Danjuma will return to the Spanish side ahead of next season, but he’s expected to move on in the summer transfer window.

Despite a promising first season, Danjuma has lost a significant amount of prominence at Villarreal, and his future at the club appears to be coming to an end.

Meanwhile…

Atletico Madrid forward, Joao Felix looks set for a move away from the Los Rojiblancos in the coming summer transfer window according to reports from Spain. Felix fell out with Diego Simeone earlier this season, which prompted his loan move to Chelsea in January.

Incoming Chelsea head coach Mauricio Pochettino had not been impressed by Felix, and has subsequently decided against pursuing a permanent deal. However, the 23-year-old is still expected to leave Atletico and he already has an offer on the table, according to a source.

“Joao Felix already has an offer from a big team and he’s going to leave. He’s not going to train with Atletico.” The source said. It is not yet known who has offered Felix a contract, with some reports that it’s from a Premier League side while others are pointing towards French giant, PSG.
