Real Madrid were in jubilant mood after the final whistle, as they celebrated their 14th UCL title and it seems like they have already put the disappointment of missing out on the signing of Kylian Mbappe if the words of their president, Florentino Perez is to be believed.
During the team’s celebration, Perez was asked about Mbappe and his decision to stay at PSG; “Today, Mbappe doesn’t exist, Real Madrid exist, it’s a party for Real Madrid and their players, who have been champions of Europe.”
While Mbappe might have wanted to leave his options open to a future move to the Santiago Bernabeu, as he declared his support for the Los Blancos going into the final.
It appears he has some bridge building to do. Before the match, Real Madrid fans both in Paris and Madrid insulted him. Asked about their front line, Perez told Sport that signings were not necessarily on the horizon. “Every year we try to bring someone in, but this forward line is difficult to improve.”
Despite his words, it is expected that the Los Blancos would be looking to bring in one or two attacking options with the likes of Gareth Bale and Isco headed for the exit door while the future of Marco Asensio is still up in the air.
Spanish La Liga side, Atletico Madrid were offered the chance to sign PSG winger, Angel Dị Maria, an opportunity that was reportedly passed up by the Los Rojiblancos.
According to Marca, Atletico Sporting director, Andrea Berta was against the move for two main reasons, the salary of the player and his age. At 34yrs, Dị Maria has probably had his best years behind him and with his contract set to expire in June.
He will be leaving PSG as a free agent. His agent has reportedly offered him to Barcelona and Juventus too and both teams are less than inclined towards taking on the player on their payroll.
