It was another disappointing result for Juventus when they came up against Cagliari away from home as the Bianconeri could only muster a 2-2 draw at the Unipol Domus stadium. In fact, they had to come from behind after being 2 goals down in the first half, courtesy of two penalties for their opponent.

More Details

After having a goal disallowed in the first half by VAR, they were able to pull themselves back in the second half, first through a Dusan Vlahovic goal in the 61st minute, before an own goal in the 87th minute ensures that they both shared the spoils.

It should be recalled that it was this same Cagliari that also played a 2-2 draw against Inter Milan at the Giuseppe Meazza stadium in their last game, but Juve have really been poor lately. The team have been struggling in the last few months and have remained a team smaller opponents do not fear, and with this latest result, it means that they’ve just one in from their last 7 Serie A games.

A poor result for a team that was at some point this season considered a genuine challenger for the Serie A title. For Juventus captain, Danilo, he insisted that the players must take responsibility for their actions after their draw against Cagliari. This is because Juve has not been at their best since they lost to Inter Milan, and Cagliari fancied their chances of winning the game.

The hosts were prepared to hurt Juve, who showed very little fight in the first half, allowing the Islanders to race to a 2-0 lead. Juve eventually came back into the game in the second half but settled for a 2-2 draw after failing to find a winner before the final whistle. The Bianconeri captain spoke after the game and said:

“The responsibility is ours, there are no alibis. No penalties or referees. These things could certainly have helped us, but we go onto the pitch, pass, win tackles. Once we understand these things better, we are they came back in the second half meaner, dirtier, the match asked for it.”

They will now look to turn their attention to the second leg clash in the Coppa Italia, against Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico. They won the first leg at the Allianz Stadium 2-0 and will definitely fancy their chances of making it into the final and at least have a chance at lifting a trophy this season.

Meanwhile…

Roma manager Daniele De Rossi has reportedly set his sights on Juventus star forward Federico Chiesa ahead of the summer transfer window. According to Calciomercato, Giallorossi could make a concrete attempt to lure the Italy international away from Turin amid Allegri’s uncertain future. Chiesa’s career at Juventus has had ups and downs, largely thanks to Allegri’s conservative tactical choices.

There’s a prevailing belief the defensive-minded manager has curtailed the ex-Fiorentina winger’s development. If he stays at the Allianz Stadium, Chiesa could go, with Roma willing to fancy their chances. De Rossi knows Chiesa well from the time they worked together at the national team. The new Roma manager was part of Roberto Mancini’s coaching staff during Italy’s triumphant Euro 2020 run.

But whether the two could reunite at the Stadio Olimpico remains to be seen. Juventus and Chiesa have been locked in extension talks for months. That contractual standstill could hand Roma a decisive boost, especially if Allegri stays at the helm. Though the odds are long, De Rossi’s men are no strangers to robbing Bianconeri of their talismanic figures.

Less than two years ago, Paulo Dybala swapped Turin for Rome on a free transfer. The Argentine has since become a crucial first-team star for Roma and could use his influence to convince Chiesa to join him in the capital. Much will depend on whether Giallorossi can secure Champions League football. As odd as it sounds, this could be among the most incredible transfer stories this summer.
