This season across Europe, several teams can be said to be in line for the team of the season award but none is as worthy as Italian side, Napoli currently.

More Details

They’ve only lost 3 games in competitive fixtures between Europe and domestic League (Liverpool, Inter Milan and Cremonese) and are currently leading the Italian League with 15 points from second placed team, while also dispatching German side, Eintracht Frankfurt in the first leg of their round of 16 UCL clash.

Their phenomenal form can be attributed to the form of two players, Victor Osimhen and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia even if it’s a team effort but both players have been the driving force behind the team, scoring important goals and assists, especially when it matters the most.

With their performance, the duo are currently attracting the interest of several clubs across Europe with Osimhen in particular said to be on the radar of several EPL clubs including Manchester United and Chelsea.

Responding to rumors of their exit, Napoli president, Aurelio De Laurentiis remain confident that Kvaratskhelia and Osimhen will remain at Napoli for a long time, although ‘sometimes there are offers you can’t reject.

Speaking to the press after the win over Frankfurt, De Laurentiis had these to say: “I had predicted we would have a great season. When you have the same players for a long time, they tend t lose motivation,” he said.

“These new players have proved to be reliable. The thing that I like is that this side goes beyond single players. We’ve been in Europe for 14 years and I think we are the only one in Italy and it was nice to find players like Edinson Cavani, Ezequiel Lavezzi, and Gonzalo Higuain. The fact that we now have Osimhen and Kvaratskhelia, Kim and other players in midfield means this team will last in time.” He further added.

When asked about the future of his terrific duo, he had these to say: “I am very good at making contracts, so when they come to me, they are blocked, so keeping them here won’t be difficult. However, never say never. Sometimes there are offers you can’t refuse, so you never know. To me, we’ll see them shine for a long time.”

Kvaratskhelia is also a hot topic in the transfer market with Manchester City and Bayern Munich said to be looking to poach him from the Partenopei, with the former considering him as an alternative to AC Milan winger, Rafael Leao.

But the Georgian revelation has always maintained that he intends to stay with Napoli for a long time and reports has it that he’s in line for a new and improved contract offer from the club.

Arsenal have reached an agreement with their midfielder, Mohammed Elneny to extend his contract with the club and both the club and the player have confirmed this development. The Egyptian, who is currently sidelined through injury, will remain at the club until the summer of 2024.

The news came via the Gunners’ official website, as it read: “Mohamed Elneny has extended his contract with the club. Mo, 30, a hugely respected and experienced member of the squad, is currently our longest-serving player having joined us from Swiss side Basel back in January 2016.”

Elneny, in his own statement, had these to say: “A new chapter begins in my journey with Arsenal. I just signed a new contract. Arsenal for me isn’t just a club I joined 7 years ago, which makes me the longest serving player currently. Arsenal is home, family, happiness, growth, and ambition. My Arsenal family, I love you.”
