Diego Simeone has signed a contract extension at Atletico Madrid that will keep him at the club until the summer of 2024.

The extension means that Simeone could mark his tenth year on the Atleti bench, making him the longest serving manager at a single club in La Liga. He is expected to keep his coaching staff with him.

The Argentine manager led the Colchoneros to the La Liga title last season, his second since taking charge of the club in 2011.

Under the guidance of the 51-year-old, the club has experienced several successful moments, including the Copa Del Rey win in 2013 and the Europa League triumphs in 2012 and 2018.

Someone is set to stay at the Spanish club for another three years as he looks to defend the La Liga title and hopefully win the single trophy that has eluded him since he took charge of the Madrid based club, the Champions League.
