Spanish and World Cup winner, Teresa Abelleira is attracting interest which will take her away from Liga F side, Real Madrid.

More Details

After a stunning World Cup display, many top teams around Europe expressed their interest in Real Madrid midfielder Abelleira, whose contract expires in 2024.

With teams allowed to negotiate this winter, Madrid has submitted their first extension offer, per Relevo.

The 23-year-old joined Real Madrid from fellow Spanish side, Deportivo La Coruna after scoring two goals with five assists for her former side at the end of the 2019/2020 season.

She has spent the last three seasons with Real Madrid and is currently in her fourth season with the capital club.

Abelleira is the daughter of football coach Milo Abelleira and her niece’s godmother.

Abelleira, who is currently in a relationship with her former teammate Patricia Curbelo, received homophobic abuse when she came out.

“I would kick them out, poor teammates. It’s disgusting” was one of the comments she received. The couple say that they will continue to fight against homophobia.

Real Madrid have 13 players whose contracts expire in 2024.

Others include Sofie Svava, Kathellen, Sandie Toletti, Naomie Feller, Freja Siri, and Hayley Raso.

The club is urgently working to find two signings for this winter market. A mandatory stop after serious injuries – they broke the cruciate – Carla Camacho and Caroline Weir, decisive last year, and after verifying that the squad has fallen short if it wants to compete in all competitions (League, Champions, Cup, and Super Cup).
