It’s been a frustrating start to the new season for Real Madrid midfielder, Marco Asensio, as he struggles for playing time with the club after overcoming his injury woes from last season.
Carlo Ancelotti seems to prefer other options to Asensio, even going as far as playing Federico Valverde in a forward position, signaling his dwindling fortunes at the Santiago Bernabeu.

With a contract set to expire in 2023, the player would be free to leave the club and no move has been made yet to keep him and the club is reported to have told him that he doesn’t have a future there, which might be connected to his demand for a pay rise.
Already, clubs are circling, looking to snap him up, but Asensio wants to start playing regularly, as he runs the risk of being left behind by Luis Enrique in the Spanish team that would be going to the World Cup.
Reports has it that Asensio has three possible destination should he leave, either in January or later in the summer for free. Liverpool, Arsenal and AC Milan.
All three have chance of signing him between January and June next year, even if the Italians would prefer a free transfer. But a new name has emerged in the race for Asensio, Barcelona, who may be pushed into signing the Spaniard if they lose Ousmane Dembele.
After it emerged that he has a release clause of €50 million, (€100 million actually, but the player will pocket half of that sum in the case of a transfer, part of the agreement he signed to renew his contract on a reduced term earlier this summer).
It would be in the best interest of the Blaugrana to sell Dembele now as they would have to start negotiating with the player again in the summer of 2023 for a new contract.
Replacing him with Asensio would make some sense, even if they’re different players with different style of plays, but the Blaugrana will have to wait until 2023 if they want to sign Asensio.
Real Madrid on their part aren’t really worried about the prospect of losing Asensio, as they already have the perfect replacement lined up, in the person of Brahim Diaz, currently playing for Ac Milan.
Diaz, who left Man City to move to Real Madrid in 2019, is currently on loan at AC Milan and his performances last season was enough to convince the Los Blancos that he’s ready for the big stage and will recall him from his loan spell.
The Rossoneri had been planning to keep Diaz, but their recent purchase of Charles De Ketelaere from Club Brugge is an indicator that they are already planning for life without Diaz.
