Power Rankings A New Leader As Europe Leagues Start To Heat Up

Written By: Abidoye Babatunde

Season’s Power Rankings of Europe’s 10 most in-form sides.

More Details

Here is our top 10.

10. Milan

Two wins from two to start the new Serie A season means the Rossoneri sit atop the bunch with a perfect record.

But it is the manner of those victories which has been most impressive, with Christian Pulisic in particular starring in 2-0 and 4-1 wins over Bologna and Torino respectively.

9. Vitória SC

Three games into the Portuguese season and there is a surprise leader, with Vitória out in front ahead of Sporting CP and Porto on goal difference.

They have won all of their games so far, scoring five and conceding just one, with André Silva (no, not that one) stealing the show so far.

8. Brighton

A considerable drop from first place to eighth for the Seagulls but that is the merciless nature of the early season rankings.

After impressive 4-1 victories in each of their opening two Premier League games, Brighton were surprisingly put to the sword at home to West Ham last time out.

7. Atlético de Madrid

Seventh place for the team in seventh heaven.

Diego Simeone’s men followed up four points from their first two games with a stunning 7-0 thrashing of Rayo Vallecano on Monday night for the biggest away win in club history.

6. West Ham

After what was a summer of discontent for so long, the mood music is now very different around the London Stadium.

West Ham have made some astute and exciting signings in recent weeks, kept hold of Lucas Paquetá and started the season with very impressive victories over Chelsea and Brighton to earn second spot in the standings.

5. Monaco

You can’t say Monaco’s start to the season under Adi Hütter has been boring.

They’ve scored at least three in each of their games so far, following up 4-2 and 3-0 wins with a thrilling 3-3 draw with Nantes in which they twice fought back from two-goal deficits. And with Folarin Balogun now added to their attack, they’ll only get better!

4. PSV

Their season started with a Johan Cruyff Shield win and things have only gotten better since then.

Peter Bosz’s side’s fine form culminated in reaching the Champions League group stages in style in midweek as they thrashed Rangers 7-3 on aggregate to book their golden ticket back to the big show.

3. Bayer Leverkusen

Xabi’s Alonso’s men may only have played three competitive games so far but what games they have been.

Union Berlin have been excellent and deservedly sit atop the Bundesliga but Leverkusen followed up an 8-0 DFB Pokal victory with two outstanding wins given the quality of opposition: swatting Leipzig aside 3-2 before a derby thrashing of Borussia Mönchengladbach on the road.

2. Manchester City

Even without Pep Guardiola on the bench as he continues to recover from back surgery, City can’t be stopped.

They looked set to drop points at Bramall Lane last weekend when Sheffield United levelled late, only for Rodri to net an instant winner to ensure the champions are the only Premier League team with a perfect record after three games.

1. Real Madrid

The Jude Bellingham show has taken centre stage in Spain and Real Madrid are reaping every inch of the rewards.

Top scorer in LaLiga and August’s Player of the Month has been on fire to help Los Blancos to top spot in the league with a 100% record. Even with Vinícius Júnior sidelined through injury, their new hero means they are the team to beat.
