NWSL: OL Reign Break Angel City’s Heart

The United States (US) National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) returned last weekend with a classic amount of drama involved.

More Details

In a playoff position clash, OL Reign stole a win from Angel City FC in a massive 3-2 comeback.

Cari Roccaro scored first to put Angel City ahead, and OL Reign looked like they could be on the ropes.

Savannah McCaskill doubled the lead off a penalty kick in the 28th minute, after Alana Cook was called for a soft foul on Sydney Leroux.

The game also featured a massive penalty save, as Didi Haračić denied Kim Little at the spot.

OL Reign fought back in a display of grittiness they’ll need down the home stretch.

The Reign got a goal back off a nicely worked ball by Tziarra King to Jess Fishlock, who dinged her shot perfectly off the post and into the goal.

They then equalized off a rocket from distance by Sofia Huerta.

They completed the comeback thanks to Tobin Heath’s nutmeg shot in the 89th minute for her first goal as a member of the Reign.

Angel City now sits in seventh, outside of an NWSL playoff position.
