OL Reign and the San Diego Wave meet on Sunday for the second time in this 2022 regular season. A second consecutive trip for Laura Harvey’s players, who will then return to Lumen Field.
More Details
On May 29, OL Reign had already faced the San Diego Wave, at home this time. Laura Harvey’s players had won 1-0 after a successful performance. The Californians had only obtained a few chances, their first shot on target only coming in the 79th minute.
However, after this second consecutive victory, OL Reign conceded their second defeat of the season last Saturday. On the Chicago Red Stars lawn, Phallon Tullis-Joyce’s teammates never managed to equalize after the opener was conceded at the very start of the second half.
With 9 points in 7 games, OL Reign are in 7th place in the regular-season standings.
For its part, the San Diego Wave has played two matches. The first was away against Kansas City Current, which saw Alex Morgan tie it 2-2 in the last minute of regulation time. The second was at home against the Portland Thorns, which ended with the same score.

Casey Stoney’s players were trailing 2-0, but they equalized thanks to a brace from Taylor Kornieck in the last ten minutes of play.
With these two draws, the Californians, therefore, remain on three consecutive games without a win. However, they remain at the top of the standings, with 14 points in 8 games.
They also have the best attack in the championship with 12 goals scored, thanks in particular to Alex Morgan, the leader in the scorer rankings with 8 goals.
If OL Reign is only the second-worst attack with only 5 goals scored in 7 games, it is the second-best defense with only 5 goals conceded. It is also one of the two teams (with Racing Louisville) not to have taken a goal against the San Diego Wave.
Meanwhile…
Two players are a priori unavailable in each team. Alyssa Malonson and Megan Rapinoe are on the OL Reign side, and Abby Dahlkemper and Katie Johnson are on the Wave side.
