The 23 year old has a broken relationship with the capital club and will like to leave the side immediately.
He was linked to AC Milan earlier in the window but the Rossoneri did not meet the asking price set by Roma which made a deal between the sides impossible.
Bournemouth are the only club to have matched Roma’s price tag but the player himself rejected a move to the Cherries.
Leeds have now approached Roma with a loan deal with option to buy at the end of the season but the Conference League winners are holding out for an obligation clause instead reports Nicolo Schira.
The player is said to be okay with Leeds United as opposed to his rejection of Bournemouth.

Roma have contacted Ajax Amsterdam for captain Dusan Tadic over a possible January move should the former leave eventually.
The player is said to have agreed personal terms already with a two and a half year contract on the table.
The 34 year old has been at Ajax since 2018 and has helped the club to several title triumphs in his five years thus far.
He’s gathered a lot of experience playing in the Premier League with Southampton and also the Champions League with Ajax.
