Napoli Not Really Interested In Real Betis Midfielder As They Overtake AC Milan For Jonathan David

It looks like Italian side, Napoli aren’t really keen on the idea of signing Guido Rodriguez, even though they are about to lose Piotr Zielinski to a free transfer to Inter Milan, instead the reigning Serie A champions want to clarify the position of their coach before making plans to sign a midfielder.

The player was reportedly offered to Napoli and Barcelona ahead of the summer as he prepares to leave Real Betis. The Argentinian midfielder, who was part of the winning squad at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, has been a key figure for the Spanish club since his arrival from Club America in January 2020, scoring nine goals and providing four assists across 168 games.

Earlier this week, reports from South America suggested that Napoli are in advanced talks for Guido Rodriguez ahead of his exit from Real Betis in the summer. His current contract has less than six weeks remaining and isn’t likely to be renewed.

Italian League transfer expert, Matteo Moretto provided an update on Napoli’s reported interest in Guido Rodriguez via Caught Offside.The 30-year-old was offered to the Partenopei, as well as Barcelona, but the Italian side are not particularly interested in a deal for the time being. In Catalonia, they’re keeping a close eye on the Argentinian midfielder.

Jonathan David has agreed to join Napoli in the summer, allowing them to take a step forward in the race with Milan and interested Premier League clubs for the Lille striker. The 24-year-old Canadian forward has just over a year left on his contract with the Ligue 1 side and is expected to be sold in the summer, keen for a new adventure after four years in France.

Last week, his entourage met with the next Napoli sporting director Giovanni Manna. David has not only attracted the attention of Napoli as Milan are also keen to snap up the striker, needing to bolster their frontline in the summer as Olivier Giroud looks to head to the MLS. Other Rossoneri targets include Benjamin Sesko and Joshua Zirkzee.

As reported by Calciomercato, David has agreed to a five-year contract with Napoli worth around €3m net per season following their recent meeting, allowing the Partenopei to take a step forward in their chase of the striker. An agreement still needs to be reached with Lille, who want around €45m, €10m higher than the Italian side’s current offer. Napoli are pushing to try and get the edge over Milan and the interested Premier League clubs.
