The lanky attacker featured for Nigeria in their AFCON double header against Guinea Bissau where he was reported to have picked up the injury.

The club announced on Friday that Osimhen returned with complaints about his abductor muscle with tests showing the striker has suffered a distraction lesion.

The injury is set to keep him out for a few weeks which automatically rules him out of contention for the tie against AC Milan on Sunday and also in doubt for the double header against the same side in the Champions League.

It will be a big blow for Luciano Spalletti who has relied heavily on the goals of the Nigerian striker this term.

Meanwhile…

Former Juventus winger Simone Pepe has spoken on the anomalous season the Bianconeri are having.

Juventus are chasing a top four finish after having fifteen points deducted from their original points accumulation due to financial irregularities.

The record Italian champions are still mathematically in contention to make the Champions League cut for next season while hearings continue in court.

They’re still very much in contention for the Coppa Italia and the Europa League where Pepe feels they can win it all.

“Juventus can win everything, in the sense that they will battle anyone. In the championship they won in Milan playing a good match. Inter had much more of the ball in the game, but Allegri’s team had real opportunities with three or four important counter-attacks to be able to increase the lead. These are real matches against strong teams with an open result, in which anything can happen, but Juve are not taking a step back from anyone.’ He told Tuttosport.

Juventus have a quarter final date against Portugal’s Sporting CP while they go head to head with Inter in the semi finals of the Coppa Italia.
