Monika Staab Gets Saudi Women’s National Team Top Job

The former FFC Frankfurt Chairman and German football manager, Monika Staab has been appointed as the new coach of the Saudi Arabia women’s national team.
The announcement of her appointment was made on the Saudi Arabia Football Federation (SAFF) Twitter account on Wednesday afternoon.
The UEFA Women’s Cup and multiple German Championship winners will guide the Arab nation through the Asian Qualifiers for Australia/ New Zealand 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup as a way of building up the women’s game in Saudi Arabia.
Before going into football management, Monika Staab actively played football between 1970 to 1992. She played for SG Rosenhöhe Offenbach, Kickers Offenbach, NSG Oberst Schiel, Paris Saint Germain, Queens Park Rangers, Southampton WFC, and SG Praunheim.

After retiring at SG Praunheim, Staab started her coaching career with the Club in 1993 and managed the team till 1999 when she joined 1. FFC Frankfurt from 1999 to 2004.
She has experience with Bahrain and Qatar women’s football teams before her latest appointment as Saudi Arabia women’s national team coach.
She won the UEFA Women’s Cup in 2002, the German championship in 1999, 2001, 2002, and 2003, and the German cup in 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, and 2003.
The experienced coach will be tasked with coaching the newly established Saudi women’s national team just under a year after the establishment of the Saudi Women’s Football League, which is expected to start its second season in November.
