Fans have taken to the club’s base to protest against the dismissal of Maldini who is loved by Milanisti in general.

Nicolo Schira reports that RedBird Capital see Pioli as untouchable and would rather let go of the directors for the coach to have his authority on the team.

“Among the reasons for the disagreement between the Maldini & Massara and duo Gerry Cardinale was the position of Stefano Pioli. In recent months the two executives were unhappy with the coach and were ready to question him, while RedBird deemed him untouchable,”

Incidentally, it was Maldini who masterminded Pioli’s arrival at the club and was there to back him severally against criticism and when it seemed like Ralf Rangnick was destined to take over at the club.
