French league winner, Lyon won their third straight French Champions trophy after a 2-0 win against rivals, PSG on Sunday.
More Details
From the start of the match, the two teams decided to put a lot of intensity. The duels are fiercely contested and spaces are very rare on the field.
Lyon does not necessarily have the ball during the first 30 minutes, moreover, the game takes place mainly in the team’s half. The Parisiennes do not find the solution when approaching Lyon’s area.
Lyon players negotiate the counter-attack phases very well and this is how they create the hottest opportunities in this first half.
It ends up paying off and it’s quite logical that the record European champions open the scoring thanks to Melchie Dumornay.
Following this, Lyon takes possession of the ball, wins more and more duels, and gradually settles in the opposing camp. Lyon returns to the locker room with the advantage of the mark and serenity.
Sonia Bompastor’s side continues to create good chances and it’s more and more tense in the opponent’s area.
Le Sommer who assisted Dumorany for the first doubled the lead in the 67th minute from Lindsey Horan’s assist before being replaced by Vicki Becho. There was a hard blow for Lyon’s new striker, Kadidatou Diani who was forced to come off with an injury in the 70th minute. She had, it seems, been heckled in the Parisian area but the referee decided not to call a penalty.
The end of the match is in Lyon’s favour. They came close to scoring an additional goal but ultimately this match ended with a score of 2-0.
