“Newcastle United are delighted to confirm the signing of England full-back Kieran Trippier from Atletico Madrid for an undisclosed fee.” The club announced on the official website.

The England international completed his switch from Atletico Madrid and will be willing to help the Magpies battle their way out of relegation.

After two and a half years playing in Spain for Diego Someone’s side where he helped them to La Liga triumph last season, the former Burnley and Tottenham Hotspur fullback returns to the Premier League.

Trippier said at his unveiling: “I’m delighted to be joining this fantastic club. I really enjoyed my time in Madrid, but when I became aware of interest from Newcastle United, and having worked with Eddie Howe before, I knew this was where I wanted to be.

“I’m aware there is a lot of work ahead of us but I know the demands of Premier League well and I know what an amazing club this is with very talented players. I can’t wait to get started and I’m excited to step out at St. James’ Park as a Newcastle player.”

Eddie Howe who first signed the defender for Burnley back in 2011 is delighted to be reuniting with the 31 year old. “I am really pleased to welcome Kieran to Newcastle United. I have long admired his abilities and have followed his career, so when the opportunity arose to secure him, we didn’t hesitate.

“A lot of hard work has gone into planning for the January transfer window long before the month began, which is clear in how quickly we have been able to complete this move. I would like to thank everyone involved, particularly our owners, and I’m very much looking forward to working with Kieran again on the training pitch.”

Trippier helped Burnley secure promotion to the Premier League in 2014 and could well help secure Newcastle’s fight against relegation.

Winger Rosaire Longelo has completed his move to league one campaigners Accrington Stanley Fc after three years with Newcastle United.

The 22 year old joined from West Ham United and went on to make 73 appearances for the Magpies’ U-23s in his four year spell.

Newcastle United Academy Manager, Steve Harper, said: “Rosaire has reached the age where he needs to be playing first-team football and we’re happy to have helped him get the opportunity to do so.

“We’d like to thank Ros for his contribution since his arrival at the club and wish him all the best in the future. Good luck, Ros!”

Langelo helped the U-23s reach the play off final and Premier League Cup final in the 2018/2019 season.
