Kaizer Chiefs: Eight Stars On The Brink Of Exit

Written By Omolagba Oluwayemi

Following their CAF Champions League final loss to Al Ahly of Egypt, Kaizer Chiefs of South Africa have recruited new players into virtually all the departments of the club.

This new development has sparked rumours of some of the star players of the club from last season departing.

The team have brought in no less than EIGHT new players, and they could also part ways with EIGHT from last season’s squad.

The goalkeeping department has been reinforced by the arrival of Brendon Peterson, who was last on the books of Bidvest Wits.

Also Chiefs has further added four new defenders, two of which are central defenders and two left-backs in Sifiso Hlanti, Sibusiso Mabiliso, Austin Dube, and Njabulo Ngcobo.

They have also bolstered the midfield with Given Thibedi and Kgaogelo Sekgota while the striking department is yet to be reinforced.

Chiefs now look set to get rid of a number of players who either contributed less last season or are simply not in Stuart Baxter’s plans.

With Ngcobo and Dube on board, Chiefs could decide to part ways with Anthony Akumu as Daniel Cardoso and Erick Mathoho are likely to stay.

Kgotso Moleko is another defender that could be released after nine years at the club following his lack of game time last term.

At least three left-backs in Philani Zulu, Yagan Sasman, and Siphosakhe Ntiya-Ntiya are most likely to leave Chiefs.

Bernard Parker is no longer one of the fan-favourites, and with Chiefs deciding to give him a one-month deal, these could prove to be his last days at Naturena.

Lastly, Lazarous Kambole and Brylon Petersen are not safe with the former now wanted by Zesco United and the latter yet to feature for Chiefs.
