Juventus Believe They Have A Strong Case Against Cristiano Ronaldo As More Injury Worries Arise

Written By Onyeka Daniel

It was recently reported that Portuguese star, Cristiano Ronaldo had charged his former club, Juventus to court over unpaid wages, looking to receive €19m in deferred wages.

More Details

But the club are confident that they’ll win the case, at least, this is according to a report from Tutto sports. The report reveals how the Portuguese star’s lawyers have presented a case to CONI’s Court of Arbitration, requesting that the Bianconeri pay the deferred €19m agreed during their ‘salary manoeuvres’ in the COVID pandemic.

An Investigation between Consob and the Turin Public Prosecutor’s Office revealed that the agreements signed in those salary manoeuvres were respected by the club, with the involved players being paid the three months wages they agreed to waive.

Ronaldo never signed those private contracts. Juventus lawyer Cesare Gabasio and his team claim that, without that contract, Ronaldo has no right to demand repayment from the club.

The documents sent to the Court of Arbitration by Ronaldo’s legal team, the report continues, are invalid because they relate to the Prisma investigation. Another key document brought forward by the Old Lady relates to when the Portuguese star decided to leave to Manchester United in the summer of 2021.

In order to secure his exit, the forward signed an agreement stating that he no longer had any outstanding debts with the club. For now, it’s not clear which was this case would swing, but it’s one too many controversy for a club aiming to win the Serie A title this season.

Already, they’ve had to deal with Paul Pogba’s doping case and the legal action brought against them by another of their former player, Leonardo Bonucci. The Bianconeri could also have injury crisis on their hand.

Meanwhile…

Adrien Rabiot picked up a knock during their training session yesterday while Alex Sandro suffered a muscle injury. Dusan Vlahovic and Federico Chiesa trained separately but they don’t have physical issues.

Juventus players worked at Continassa yesterday in front of their fans and Italy coach Luciano Spalletti. French midfielder Rabiot had a knock during the training session and returned to the dressing room early, but is not feared to have suffered a severe injury.

Alex Sandro also ended the training session before his teammates, but according to reports, the Brazilian’s condition is more concerning as he’s believed to have suffered a muscle injury in his left thigh.

Chiesa and Vlahovic did not train with their teammates on the pitch and prepared for Saturday’s game against Sassuolo by working in the gym. Juventus clarified that neither striker has suffered injuries and trained in the gym as part of their training program.
