The Racing Club of Abidjan defender was said to have slumped in the 70th minute without contact.
He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead hours after the incident happened.
The 21 year old as per the president of the club Cisse Souleymane suffered a heart attack which eventually cost him his life. The match was abandoned immediately after the incident but it did little to save the life of Sylla.
“Death!! Our defender Sylla Moustapha died this evening after a discomfort during our game against Sol FC. Our management send sincere condolences to the biological family. Rest In peace Moustapha, rest In peace Lion.” Reads the statement on the club official website.
Sylla’s last game was his seventh of the current campaign since joining the club from Djoliba AC.
