The Nerazzurri came in the back of a disappointing home loss to Empoli on Monday but did get all three points at the Stadio Giovanni Zini.
The visitors dominated the opening exchanges with most of the ball being played in the Cremonese half of the field.
A few half chances were created by Simone Inzaghi’s men but it was Cremonese, totally against the run of play that went into the lead on the eleventh minute via a beautiful curling effort from David Okereke.
The Nerazzurri were stunned by that goal and immediately poured forward in charge of an equalizer.
They found their own goal just ten minutes later from Lautaro Martinez who was captain for the match. The Argentine pounced on a rebound after the goalkeeper had saved Edin Dzeko’s half volley.
The first half would end with no more goals from either side but with Inter the better side going into the break.
Cremonese did little to threaten throughout the game and it was Inter in the 65th minute who got the winning goal via Lautaro Martinez again.
The win takes Simone Inzaghi’s men to second on the log with 40 points pending when other sides wait to complete their matches.
Meanwhile…
Martínez is the third foreign player in Inter’s history to reach 10+ goals in at least 4 different seasons in Serie A, after Stefano Nyers and Mauro Icardi (both five). Data via Opta.
The Argentine scored twice on the evening to register his name on the scoresheet and thus move to eleven goals for the season.
