This week has some exciting fixtures in the round 4 of the Italian Serie A, with Juventus facing Lazio at the Allianz arena and of course, the star match, the Milan derby at the stadio Giuseppe Meazza. In the first game, the Bianconeri were victorious over Lazio, winning 3-1.
The managed to open the scoring early on in the game, in the 10th minute. A wonderful cross from Manuel Locatelli found Dusan Vlahovic in the box to beat the keeper from close range. There was a VAR check on the goal, but it stood in the end.
They managed to double their advantage in the 26th minute through Federico Chiesa, who latched on to a pass inside the penalty box and fires a perfect strike that goes inside the left post. The first half ended 2-0 and Lazio came out gun blazing in the second half and after much probing, they were able to find a goal in the 64th minute through Luis Alberto.
Few minutes later, Juve restored their 2 goal advantage through Vlahovic to score his brace and give his team the maximum point. In the other game, Inter continued their dominance over their city rivals, AC Milan, making it 5 wins in their last 5 meetings, all in this year.
The Nerazzurri were 1-0 up as early as the 5th minute. A pass from Marcus Thuram finds Federico Dimarco and he was able to square to Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who scores from close range, giving the goalkeeper no chance. In the 38th minute, they were 2-nil up in the 38th minute as Thuram was able to find a space in the box to beat the keeper with an angled drive.
They were able to take this advantage into the half time break. The Rossoneri came out in the second half as they tried to get back into the game and they were able to grab a goal in the 57th minute through Portuguese forward, Rafael Leao.
He receives a delightful pass inside the box from Theo Hernandez, before slotting the ball past the goalkeeper. This is the first goal conceded by Inter and it seems to give Milan the initiative to go forward in search of an equalizer and that of course was their biggest undoing.
In the 69th minute, Mkhitaryan grabbed his brace to restore his team’s 2 goal advantage. He picks up the ball inside the box, finds himself in a good position and fires in a shot which is deflected past Mike Maignan. The Rossoneri further compounded their woes as Hernandez brings an opponent down inside the box and the referee points to the spot.
Hakan Calhanoglu was able to convert, sending an unstoppable penalty past Maignan into middle of the goal. Of course, Inter weren’t done yet and they added a fifth in extra time through second half substitute, Davide Frattesi in the 93rd minute after he finds himself one on one with the goalkeeper. In the other game for today, Genoa will host defending champions, Napoli.
