The Nasrawi duo have been handed heavy fines with one also getting a lengthy ban.
The Saudi Arabian Football Federation have taken its final decision on cases involving some players of the national team who refused call ups or left the group.
The player who is mostly hit is Al Nassr goalkeeper Nawaf Al Aqidi who left the team’s camp due to displeasure at the coach’s choices.
Al Aqidi according to @Ali_Alabdallh on X has been handed a five month ban from football activities in Saudi Arabia.
The goal tender was also fined a whopping 300,000 riyals for his actions in the national team.
“The reason is it was proven that he violated the regulations and his request to postpone the team’s camp and his request from the team’s management to deliver his message that he did not want to join the camp, and to send a message containing insults, and his request to leave the camp because he believed that he was the third goalkeeper of the team.” Explained Al Nassr Zone.
It has however been revealed that the club will appeal the sanction as they believe it’s an unfair judgement on the 23 year old.
In a related scenario, Sultan Al Ghannam was also fined by the football federation but no ban was imposed on the fullback.
The 29 year old was handed a 200,000 riyals fine for his request to be exempted from the national team.
