The football chief will take up a new role at Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal beginning from January 2024.
Saudi Pro League record champions and current log leaders Al Hilal have announced Steve Calzada will become the club’s CEO from January 2024.
An announcement released by the club on their official website confirmed the appointment of the renowned football chief.
“Under the leadership of Mr. Fahad Bin Saad Bin Nafel, the board of directors at Al-Hilal Club have made the decision to appoint the Spaniard Esteve Calzada to be their new CEO starting from January 2024, taking over from Mr. Abdullah AlJarboua.”
Calzada has accrued over two decades of football experience where he’s worked as an executive for clubs such as Manchester City and FC Barcelona.
His wealth of experience is expected to help improve the marketing department of the Blues having bagged Bachelor’s honours in economics and MBA.
The contingent of the playing and technical staff arrived in Riyadh in the early hours of Wednesday.
Jorge Jesus led his side to Uzbekistan where they secured a 2-0 victory over Navbahor to book their place in the second round of the AFC Champions League.

The Blues have now returned to their base in Riyadh to begin preparation for the Saudi Clasico against Al Nassr on Friday.
Both clubs sit first and second on the log respectively with the Blues on top and their rivals four points behind.
The game on Friday will have a significantly telling impact on the log going into midseason.
