A Dixon Arroyo long-range shot that hit the crossbar in the 25th minute. After controlling the rebound and flicking the ball over the defender, Leonardo Campana fired an unstoppable shot.

Tristan Muyumba of Atlanta promptly came back with a shot that hit the post and trickled past the goal line. Although there was some anxiety when VAR determined whether the ball had actually crossed the line, the call was ultimately maintained even without goal line technology.

Soon after, Atlanta resumed its attack, forcing a Kamal Miller own goal in the 41st minute before Brooks Lennon put United up 3-1 with a skillful finish in the 44th. Eight minutes into the second half, Miami got one back thanks to Campana, who won his brace from the penalty spot.

The Atlanta assault, led by Giorgos Giakoumakis and Tyler Wolff, scored two more goals in the closing minutes of the game despite the goal.

For their upcoming encounter, Inter Miami will be hoping that Messi is healthy. Toronto, who are in last place in the MLS Eastern Conference, will be hosted by them at home.
