Written By Onyeka Daniel

The international break is over and we’re back to club football and it brings another exciting week of English Premier League action.

More Details

This is week 31 in the Fantasy league with some teams missing in action in the penultimate weeks.

LATEST POSTS

Only four matches took place in the week before the international break with the remaining matches scheduled to take place later in the month and it should give FPL players the avenue to earn extra few points if they pick their teams right.

The biggest winners in week 29 were Tottenham Hotspur, who defeated West Ham 3-1 and Leeds united, who won 3-2 away to Wolves.

The duo of Harry Kane and Son Heung-min were on fire for Antonio Conte’s side with Kane providing all three assists while Son scored two of the three goals to post 13 and 15 points respectively and to those that gave either one of them the Captain band, got double or triple the points, depending.

Another high scoring player was Leeds United defender, Luke Ayling, who was on the score sheet and also provided an assist to post 13 points. Wolves midfielder, Trincao also got 12 points after scoring a goal and providing an assist.

Arsenal’s England winger, Bukayo Saka scored the only goal away to Aston Villa to post 12 FPL points. while Arsenal goalkeeper, Bernd Leno got 6 points after keeping a clean sheet.

Leicester city defeated Brentford at home 2-1 and the duo of James Madison and Timothy Castagne got the goals, scoring a FPL point of 10 and 14 respectively.

Top Picks For The Week…

Only one point separates Manchester City in 1st position and Liverpool in second position and they will be playing against two teams that occupy the 19th and 18th position (Burnley and Watford).

This should present a perfect opportunity for their strikers to rack up on the goals, with an eye on the likes of Mo Salah and Sadio Mane (Liverpool) and De Bruyne alongside Raheem Sterling (Manchester City), but could also prove to be a banana-skin type of fixture as the two teams are also locked in a relegation battle, trying to stay up at the end of the season.

Tottenham Hotspur vs Newcastle and Crystal Palace vs Arsenal are two fixtures that promise to bring a decent amount of goals, so one should keep an eye out for the likes of Saka, Kane, Son, Saint-Maximin and Odegaard.

Chelsea against Brentford should also produce goals and it could be the time when Belgium striker, Romelu Lukaku finally kicks off his career at the Stamford bridge.

Leeds United will face Southampton and this fixture looks like another avenue for goals as Raphinha and Rodrigo should be running the show for the home side as they seek an escape from relegation.

Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno, who kept a clean sheet in their last game is expected to keep his place in the team, partly due to Ramsdale being out with a hips injury and he might also keep another clean sheet.

Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez hasn’t really been in top form but that can be attributed to his defense, rather than his abilities but he is in line to keep a clean sheet.

Now would be the best of time to play that bench boost and free hit if you haven’t played it already as the international break is known to always through out a couple of surprising results for top teams and coupled with the fact that UEFA Champions League knockout stage also resumes.
