It’s another weekend and this means that another round of football in the major Leagues in Europe with the English Premier League not being an exception. Apart from the usual 10 matches, we do have another 2 other matches during the mid-week for teams with extra games. Before we take a look at the teams and players with a possibility of yielding some high scores in the Fantasy Premier League, let’s take a look at the previous round of matches, which in my opinion, didn’t produce plenty of points as the average score was pegged at 43.

More Details

In the early kickoff game, Manchester City defeated Newcastle United and young forward, Phil Foden got 11 points for his overall contribution after scoring a goal in the game. Arsenal made sure that they kept their distance from Manchester City and the chasing pack when they came from behind to defeat Bournemouth 3-2 and young forward, Reiss Nelson was at the heart of the comeback grabbing an assist and the winning goal and he got 11 points for his efforts despite being a second half substitute.

Bournemouth midfielder, Philip Billing was on the score sheet and he got 10 points. Aston Villa defender, Matty Cash got a whopping 12 points after scoring the only goal in the game against Crystal Palace. Brighton made a short work of West Ham at the Amex Stadium and the duo of Alexis Mac Allister and Kaoru Mitoma got 14 and 13 points respectively after getting a goal and an assist each. Defender, Joel Veltman also got 13 points for his goal. Former Leicester city defender, Wesley Fofana scored the only goal as Chelsea defeated Leeds and he scored 14 points.

While Wolves got a shock 1-0 win over Spurs, with Adama Traore, a second half substitute getting the winner, it was goalkeeper, Jose Sa who got the highest point (11) for keeping a clean sheet and his saves during the game. Despite the fact that Leicester were defeated by Southampton (1-0), their goalkeeper, Danny Ward got 11 points for his saves including saving a penalty from James Ward-Prowse.

Nottingham Forest and Everton shared the spoils (2-2) and Forest striker, Brennan Johnson got 13 points for his 2 goals in the game. Liverpool forward, Mo Salah was definitely the star player for the week after the Reds gave Manchester United a drubbing that they will never forget, scoring 7 goals without reply. Salah (21), Darwin Nunez (12) and Cody Gakpo (14) all scored 2 goals each with Firmino completing the scoring. Brentford vs Fulham completed the round of fixtures with the home side winning 3-2. Mathias Jensen picked up 10 points for his goal as the midfielder was on the winning side.

Top Picks For The Week…

Liverpool will be facing Bournemouth in the early kickoff game and the Reds could break into the top four with a win in this game. It could be another opportunity for the trip of Salah, Nunez and Gakpo to increase their goal tally as they face a Bournemouth side that crumbled against Arsenal last week. Everton vs Brentford and Leeds vs Brighton look like fixtures that can swing either way in terms of goals, but keep an eye on Brighton, a side with goal scoring tendency even if their away record against smaller teama is so good.

Chelsea against Leicester will definitely see a couple of goals even if Chelsea seems to keep things tight at the back. Tottenham Hotspur against Nottingham Forest will be a good opportunity for Harry Kane to get back to scoring while he looks to support from Son Heung-min and Dejan Kuluveski. Manchester City will be traveling away to Crystal Palace and they will have a few axe to grind.

From trying to get closer to Arsenal at the top of the table to Erling Haaland looking to get back into his scoring form, it will be all fireworks against a Palace side that has Wilfred Zaha, Ebere Eze and Michael Olise. Arsenal will travel a short distance away to Fulham in a London derby and like Manchester United against Southampton will probably be a low scoring game even if they’ve the shape of match that can produce plenty of goals.

Newcastle vs Wolves is the opposite, looking like a closed match but could see at least three to four goals in the game. In the rescheduled fixtures, it’s Brighton vs Crystal Palace and Southampton vs Brentford. Here’s a list of players that could guarantee you plenty of points in this week’s fixtures. Jose Raya in goal, Kieran Trippier, Gabriel in the midfield Mac Allister, Mo Salah, Bukayo Saka and Marcus Rashford. In attack, Haaland and Kane should do.
