Fantasy Premier League Preview: Week 2

It’s another exciting week after the resumption of football for the top European countries and in fact, some Leagues will be resuming today, but the English Premier League will be playing their second game of the season.

In the first week, it was almost as if the teams picked off from where they left off from last season, with of course the results from Liverpool and maybe Manchester United being the only exception.


The biggest winners were Tottenham Hotspur, who defeated Southampton 4-1. Three defenders scored in that game, two for Tottenham (Ryan Sesssegnon and Eric Dier) while Mohammed Salisu scored an own goal at the other end.

Dejan Kuluveski got a goal and an assist to post a total of 13 points. Defender, Emerson Royal got two assist and that got him 9 points. James Ward-Prowse, who got the opening and only goal for Southampton got 9 points for his efforts.

In another game, Arsenal defeated Crystal Palace 2-0 and Newcastle won Nottingham Forest by the same margin. For Arsenal, Brazilian, Gabriel Martinelli scored and Marc Guehi scored an own goal. For his efforts, Martinelli got 8 FPL points.

Fabian Schar got 15 points after scoring for Newcastle and keeping a clean sheet at the other end for his team. Callum Wilson, who scored their other goal got 6 points. Despite Losing 2-1 to Leeds United, Daniel Podence of Wolves got whopping 10 FPL points as he scored the only goal in the encounter for his team.

Jefferson Lerma who scored one of the two goals for new comers, Bournemouth in their 2-0 win over Aston Villa got 10 FPL points. Fulham striker, Aleksandar Mitrovic, who scored two goals in their 2-2 draw against Liverpool scored 13 points while everyone’s favorite Mo Salah also got things going with a goal and an assist, posting 12 FPL points for his efforts.

Chelsea midfielder, Jorginho got 11 points, while Brighton midfielder, Pascal Grob, who scored two goals against Manchester United got 15 points, the highest point scored alongside Fabian Schar. Manchester City new striker, Erling Haaland got two goals and was awarded 13 points for his efforts.

Top Picks For The Week……

Manchester City will welcome new comers Bournemouth to the Etihad Stadium and it could present another chance for Haaland to increase his goal tally and also give Kevin De Bruyne the chance to pile up on his assist stats.

Arsenal and Leicester both scored two goals each in their opening game and they will be facing off against each other at the Emirates stadium and it should present us with a decent amount of goals.

Liverpool will face Crystal Palace at home and they will be keen to get back to winning ways after stumbling against Fulham and Mo Salah is expected to lead the charge for the Reds.

Brentford will face Manchester United at home in what will be Christian Eriksen’s first game against his former team and he will be pulling the strings from the midfield.

Chelsea vs Tottenham Hotspur is usually a cagey affair, but meeting up this early in the season could make for an open game and Harry Kane will be looking to getting his first goal of the season.

Despite scoring two goals each in their first game, Brighton vs Newcastle is another expected cagey affair, which might be separated with just a goal or two, but Newcastle will probably keep another clean sheet.

Manchester City goalkeeper, Ederson, Arsenal’s Ramsdale and Chelsea’s Edouard Mendy are some of the reliable goalkeepers from week 1 while not forgetting Dean Henderson of Nottingham Forest, who pulled off 7 saves in their loss to Newcastle.
