European Champions Dominate UWCL Team Of The Season

Five players from European champions, FC Barcelona dominated the 2023/2024 UEFA Women’s Champions League (UWCL) Team of the Season after a 2-0 win against record winners, Lyon in the final clinched their third title on Saturday.

The 2023/2024 UWCL Team of the Season was compiled by the UEFA’s Technical Observer panel.

Beaten finalist, Lyon were represented by four players while semi finalists, Chelsea and PSG have a player each on the Player of the Season.

Barcelona players who made the team include defenders Irene Paredes, Lucy Bronze, midfielders Patricia Guijarro, Aitana Bonmati, and in-form Caroline Graham Hansen whoe playd crucial role in leading the Catalan side to their third European title.

Lyon players who made the cut include goalkeeper Christiane Endler, defender Salma Bacha, midfielder Lindsey Horan, and forward Kadidiatou Diani.

Chelsea defender Jess Carter and PSG forward, Tabitha Chawing completed the list.

After losing the final to Lyon tow seasons ago, Jonatan Giraldez's side avenged their loss with a 2-0 win last weekend to cement their recent dominance in Europe against the most successful team in the competition, Sonia Bompastor's Lyon.
