Efraín Morales Agrees To New MLS Contract With Atlanta United

Efraín Morales has signed a contract extension with Atlanta United that runs through the 2024 season, with options to extend through the 2025 and 2026 seasons.

While on loan to Atlanta United 2, Morales completed the 2023 season and made all 20 of his appearances for MLS NEXT Pro.

“Efraín is a player who has continued to improve along his pathway from our inaugural U-12 side to Atlanta United 2 and the First Team,” Vice President and Technical Director Carlos Bocanegra said. “We’re excited to sign him to a contract extension and look forward to his continued development at the club.”

The 19-year-old Homegrown played in 1,722 minutes of action during the 2023 season, leading the squad in aerial duel percentage (69.2%). He also participated in all five of the team’s clean sheet games.

The American Bolivian was second on the team in both completion percentage (1,091) and passing accuracy (91.4%). On May 14 against Crown Legacy FC, Morales scored his first goal of the 2023 season after Tyler Wolff’s set piece cross found its way to the defense.

Since the Atlanta United Academy U-12 team’s founding, Morales has been a member of the team. On August 12, 2020, he signed a Homegrown contract. In the USL Championship on August 16, 2020, at Charleston Battery, he made his professional debut with ATL UTD 2.
