Barcelona’s Croatian midfielder, Ivan Rakitic will join Sevilla in the coming hours according to several reports from Italy and Spain.
Marc reports that the 32-year old midfielder is currently having his medicals with the Europa League champions after agreeing personal terms with the club. The transfer fee is not known yet but it is believed to be very minimal.
Fabrizio Romano reports that Rakitic will join the Andalusian club on a three year deal while Nicolo Schira of Gazzetta Dello Sport says it’s a two year deal with an option for an additional year.
The move marks a return to Sevilla for the 2018 World Cup finalist after three years at the club which saw him win the Europa League in 2014. The former Basel and Schalke midfielder is reportedly drawn to the club mainly because of the strong ties that he and his wife have with the city.
Rakitic had a somewhat sub par campaign with Barcelona last season, starting only sixteen games in La Liga and scoring just one goal.
