Chelsea’s French midfielder, Tiemoue Bakayoko is on the verge of a return to Italy to join Gennaro Gattuso’s Napoli according to latest reports.
Bakayoko has found himself frozen out of the Chelsea first team this season as he has been left out of Frank Lampard’s squad for all of the club’s games so far this season.
The midfielder spent last season on loan at French Ligue 1 side, Monaco – the club where he made his name before joining the English side – and was able to find some continuity but it seems that he would not be able to fight his way into Lampard’s plans as the Chelsea manager already has trusted players in the position that Bakayoko plays.
Napoli have now offered a way out to the 26-year old midfielder. According to Sky Italia, Bakayoko is expected to arrive in Naples tomorrow to undergo his medicals after Chelsea and Napoli were able to strike an agreement for a temporary move. The deal is expected to be a dry loan without any major conditions attached.
The move will give Bakayoko the chance to reunite with Napoli manager, Gennaro Gattuso, who he worked with in the 2018/2019 season when Gattuso was the manager at AC Milan.
Somewhat Surprisingly though, Bakayoko had been linked all summer with a return to Milan and was reportedly ready to reduce his wages in order to make the move happen but it appears that the club turned their attention elsewhere after the acquisition of talented midfielder, Sandro Tonali from Brescia.
