Djed Spence Joins Rennes On Loan From Spurs

Tottenham Hotspur player, Djed Spence has joined Rennes on loan till the end of the season with no clause or buy option as he is convinced of his long term future at Tottenham.

The French club announced the acquisition of the Anglo-Jamaican on Tuesday evening as he is set to step in for captain Hamari Traoré who tore is calf and is expected to be out until mid-March and Lorenz Assignon who suffered a posterior cruciate ligament injury in his knee and will miss the next two to three months of competition.
“Following the injuries to Lorenz Assignon and Hamari Traoré, we had to react very quickly. It’s an interesting player profile. He is a committed, fast player who is able to defend well and also attack well. He moved up to the Premier League with Nottingham Forest last season. He played little with Tottenham but he’s still a player with great potential. In a few hours, you had to be reactive to find the right option and I hope he will quickly blend into the group in order to show us his qualities” Maurice, Technical Director of Stade Rennais FC: said.

On his part, Spence is ready for the challenge of playing in the Ligue 1 for the first time and hopes his time at Rennes is fruitful .

I have no opinion about the French league so I never know, but I guess it may be different, I am going to find out for myself.

The right-back who has made six appearances for Spurs to date will link up with his Spurs team mate Joe Rodon who is already at the French club.
