Paris Saint-Germain Foundation has cancelled the DINER DE GALA celebrations for this year out of respect for injured goalkeeper Sergio Rico with president Nasser Al Khelaifi stating that the current situation demands the full attention of everyone in the club and has thereby prompted them to forgo the traditional gala.
Paris Saint-Germain has informed its partners and all guests about the cancellation of the Foundation and Endowment Fund Gala dinner scheduled for Tuesday, May 30.
This painful but unavoidable decision was made by Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, President of Paris Saint-Germain and the Foundation, due to the concerning health condition of goalkeeper Sergio Rico.
Segio Rico fell off a racing home in his home City of Seville thereby suffering serious head accidents which has kept him in the emergency unit just a day after French manager Christophe Galtier gave his players a day off after the club’s record breaking Ligue 1 title feat.
Reports emerged in Spain revealed that a runaway horse collided with the animal he was riding with the keeper suffering head injuries and was taken to hospital by helicopter for tests according to Spanish news outlet Relevo. The reports further states that Rico was rushed to the Virgen del Rocio hospital by helicopter, where he has been intubated following the blow sustained to his head as doctors carry out further tests.
In respect of their player, Nasser Al-Khelaifi, President of Paris Saint-Germain and the Foundation, stated, “The current situation demands our full attention and forces us to forgo our traditional gala. The entire Paris Saint-Germain family is deeply affected by the tragedy affecting Sergio Rico and his loved ones. On behalf of all the Club’s teams, I want to assure them of our full support and heartfelt sympathy during this ordeal.”
Partners and benefactors of the Paris Saint-Germain Foundation and Endowment Fund have been notified of the cancellation who all joined the Club in expressing their complete support for the player and his family.
The Foundation and Endowment Fund Gala dinner, which was scheduled for tonight as its 7th edition, is the annual event to showcase the results achieved throughout the year thanks to its programs. The teams will mobilize in the coming weeks to work on future developments for the gala and its projects.
