In recent years, English and European teams have shown a greater willingness to invest in MLS talent; only this past summer, Djordje Petrovic and Taty Castellanos signed with Chelsea and Lazio, respectively.

Journalist Andres Rolon claims that West Ham has set its sights on Inter Miami’s Diego Gomez, a Paraguay international who is expected to be available in the summer transfer season.

Even with the Inter Miami star out due to an ankle injury, Gomez, a 21-year-old midfielder, is becoming a top target for Premier League sides. He has already been linked to a move to Brighton & Hove Albion.

Gomez suffered a catastrophic injury last month against Nashville SC, rolling his ankle on the pitch. As a result, Inter Miami will be severely hampered for at least a few more weeks.

Despite Gomez’s inactivity leading up to the summer, clubs haven’t stopped in their pursuit of the highly rated midfielder; as a result, West Ham may suddenly be an option for the 21-year-old.

Brazilian winger Célio Pompeu has signed a new deal with St. Louis CITY SC, the team announced on Friday

With a club option for 2027, the 24-year-old Brazilian is now signed through the 2026 MLS season.

“We are proud to see Célio’s growth through our pipeline”, sporting director Lutz Pfannenstiel said in a press release. “He has grown as a professional, both on and off the field, and to reap the rewards with a new contract was something he worked really hard for. Celio continues to elevate his game each and every day and we hope that he doesn’t stop raising the bar.”
