With Joao Cancelo’s Barcelona imminent arrival, details of Xavi Hernandez’s side deal for the Portuguese right back has emerged which includes and initial loan deal with a £21m purchase obligation which will be triggered at the end of the season although he will have to wait for a while before he’s registered to participate in the league due to the club’s financial incapability.

More Details

Defending LaLiga champions Barcelona may be obligated to make their potential loan deal for Manchester City’s Joao Cancelo permanent if they advance from the Champions League group stages, according to reports in Spain as details of his deal emerges.

Xavi Hernandez’s side are edging closer to agreeing a deal for the Portuguese defender who spent the latter half of last season on-loan at Bayern Munich following a bitter fall-out with Pep Guardiola.

Bayern were not committed to purchasing the 29-year-old and promptly sent him back to Manchester at the end of last season, however, according to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona would be willing to bind themselves to the player should a certain condition be met.

The outlet report that Xavi’s side will be forced to pay £21.4million (€25m) should they qualify from the group stages of this season’s Champions League.

Meanwhile…

According to French outlet Foot Mercato, Real Madrid could launch a last-minute offer for Mbappe in the final week of the transfer window after PSG’s upcoming Ligue 1 game against RC Lens.

Mbappé’s contract is still set to expire in 2024, and while discussions have seen some progress between the club and the team’s star player, they haven’t significantly advanced. As things stand, Mbappé will be free to negotiate with clubs interested in his services starting from January 1, 2024.

A last-minute marquee signing would also have financial implications for PSG. Real Madrid would finally secure a key offensive player capable of scoring around 30 goals per season. Mbappé would achieve his dream, and PSG would receive a substantial transfer fee.

However, it’s important to acknowledge that intense negotiations would need to take place within a limited timeframe.
