Commonwealth: Second Gold For Team India As Edidiong Joseph Gives Nigeria Second Medal

Jeremy Lalrinnunga of India has won Gold in the Men’s 67kg Weightlifting Final with a Games Record total lift of 300kg.
Samoa’s Vaipava Ioane took Silver, successfully improving on his 4th placed finish in 2018, with Edidiong Joseph Umoafia of Nigeria rounding out the medals.
It is India’s second gold medal and fifth medal overall after winning four of those medals in weightlifting.
For Nigeria Umuofia’s bronze medal win his Nigeria’s second medal after Adenike Olarinoye won gold in the women’s 55kg event.
Umoafia lifted a combined 290kg (Snatch, Clean & Jerk) to get on the podium.

Team Nigeria through to the semi-final of the Men’s Table Tennis Doubles following a 3-2 win over Malaysia at the commonwealth games, coming from behind to beat Malaysia and making it to the Last 4.
The Nigerian defeated Malaysia 3-2 in a hard fought win courtesy of Olajide Omotayo and Africa’s number one, Aruna Quadri.

Olajide had to rally back to beat Malaysia’s Chee Feng Leong (3-1) to tie the game 2-2 overall while Quadri despite losing the first match rolled up his sleeves to get a 3-1 win over Malaysia’s Jeven Choong.
