Written By Onyeka Daniel

The rebuilding process currently going on at Chelsea is steadily gaining more traction as the club continue to get rid of players that are perceived to be surplus to requirements at the club after selling as many as 7 players so far.

More Details

Another player is set to join the list with reports that the Blues have reached an agreement with Italian side, AC Milan over the transfer of USA winger, Christian Pulisic. The Rossoneri have agreed a transfer with Chelsea for Pulisic and the US interna will have his medical at the weekend, claim multiple sources.

The two clubs had already been close to an agreement over the last couple of days and an agreement has been found this evening after several talks, at least according to several sources from Italy with a medical already planned over the weekend. It Is believed the cost of the transfer will be €20m plus add-ons and performance-related bonuses.

The player is in the final year of his contract at Stamford Bridge and like other players in the same position, selling him for profit was the only solution just like the club did by selling Mason Mount to their rival, Manchester United.

The player also didn’t help matters as he had already made his position clear, rejecting a more lucrative proposal from French club, Lyon to join the Milanese club He becomes the second Chelsea player to join Milan this summer after Ruben Loftus-Cheek, who cost €16m plus up to another €5.5m in bonuses. The 24-year-old was purchased from Borussia Dortmund in 2019 for a massive €64m, but never quite delivered on that promise.

He scored 26 goals and provided 21 assists in 145 competitive games for the Blues. Pulisic also has 23 goals in 57 senior caps for the USMNT, but it is thanks to his Croatian roots that he can register for Milan as an EU player.

Meanwhile…

The EPL side are also prepared to welcome back their Belgian striker, Romelu Lukaku back into the squad, at least, those were the words of Mauricio Pochettino in his first press conference as coach of Chelsea.

The former Tottenham Hotspur and PSG manager commented on the Lukaku situation, hinting he expects an Inter transfer to go through very soon but also opened the door to the possibility of the player staying at the Stamford Bridge. Lukaku spent last season on loan the Nerazzurri and has made absolutely no secret of his desire to make the move permanent.

Inter director Piero Ausilio also confirmed last night that Chelsea told them there will not be another loan deal, so they have to figure out a purchase. “The situation, all of the parts, know what we think. I think in that case he needs to come back in 12th or 13th to be in the squad to start pre-season,” said Pochettino in a press conference when asked if he expects Lukaku to be at the training camp.

“Yeah, like all of the players when they arrive, they come to my office to say hello. If he is still a Chelsea player…” That seems like a big if, especially as there is no real room for Lukaku in the Blues squad and he has already rejected far more lucrative offers from the Saudi Pro League.

The Belgian has his heart set on Inter, who in turn value the player at no more than €50m, claiming that was the figure Chelsea had accepted from Saudi clubs, but they’re hoping to beat down the price further. They can’t make a move yet for him though as they have to wait for the Andre Onana-Manchester United deal to go through before being able to afford Lukaku.
