Manchester United are in advanced negotiations to sign former Napoli and Paris Saint Germain striker, Edinson Cavani as a free agent.
The 33-year old Uruguay international spent the last seven seasons at the French capital with PSG after arriving from Napoli in a deal that cost the French club around 65 million euros.
After moving to France, Cavani went on to make 301 appearances for the club in all competitions, scoring 200 goals, making him the club’s all-time top scorer and also provided 43 assists in that period. The striker decided to put an end to his time at the club after his contract expired as he preferred to a new experience.
El Matador as Cavani is fondly called had been linked with moves to several top European clubs including Inter Milan, Atletico Madrid, Benfica and even a return to Napoli but a move could not materialize mainly due to the financial demands of the player and his entourage.
Manchester United have now made a late move for the Uruguayan as they look to beef up their attack by adding some experience. Reports suggest that the striker has reached an agreement with the club and work is currently being done to negotiate his agent’s fee.
More details expected soon
