The FC Bayern Munich (FCB) women have signed the Scottish international Samantha Mary Kerr for the coming season (2023/2024).

The 24-year-old midfielder comes from Rangers Women’s Football Club (WFC) and has signed a three-year contract in Munich until 2026.

“It’s Bayern Munich, that’s an opportunity I couldn’t refuse. FCB is one of the biggest clubs in the world and the quality of the players here is great. I look forward to being a part of it and hope to be able to help the team and this amazing club in the future.” Kerr said on the Bayern Munich website.

After seven years and five titles in the Scottish Women’s Premier League, Sam Kerr will play for FC Bayern Frauen (Women) from the 2023/2024 season.

Francisco De Sá Fardilha, Technical Director of FC Bayern Frauen, is looking forward to the new signing: “She is ambitious and wants to develop further. We believe it is exactly the right time in your career to come to FC Bayern and help us achieve our goals. It goes with everything the club stands for. She has a fighting spirit and she has both tactical and technical qualities. Above all, she’s hungry.”

Kerr has been part of the Scottish national team since 2020 and has made 14 appearances so far.

She also gained experience on the big stage in the UEFA Women’s Champions League.

In the 2019/2020 season, she reached the quarterfinals of the most important European club competition with her then-club Glasgow City.

“I’ve already played against big teams in the Champions League and I think that I can gain the experience here to get even further than before.”

Sam Kerr made his senior debut for Scotland in 2020.

With the Scottish national team missing out on qualifying for the World Cup, Kerr will join FC Bayern Frauen early on and complete the pre-season in Munich from the start.

FC Bayern and Kerr according to the club management are looking forward to the time together.
