The 18-year-old, who graduated from Atalanta’s youth academy, has been a member of the team’s roster since 2015. Scalvini made his senior debut in October of last year. Since then, he has played 25 times for La Dea and scored twice.
He has appeared on the field four times this season, scoring just one goal—a winner against AS Roma shortly before the break. Scalvini, a center-back by trade, is highly regarded in Italy and is also capable of playing as a defensive midfielder.
And it appears that the abundance of talent he possesses has caught the attention of both Atletico Madrid and Manchester City.
Diego Simeone’s team needs to add some fresh blood to their defensive line due to Jose Maria Gimenez’s injury woes and Felipe and Stefan Savic’s advanced age. Scalvini can be a valuable addition both now and in the future.
The fact that the young player’s contract expires at the end of the current season makes him an even more desirable prospect. Scalvini has already received one cap for the Italian national team, but Manchester City is also interested in recruiting the defender, so it may be difficult for Atletico to sign him.

During the just concluded summer transfer window, there were talks of Cristiano Ronaldo joining Spanish La Liga side, Atletico Madrid after reports emerged that he was looking to leave Old Trafford, in search of UEFA Champions League football.
In the end, the move didn’t happen, but the Los Rojiblancos could end up signing another player from Manchester United, this time, it is England striker, Marcus Rashford.
Rashford broke into the United first team back in the 2016/17 season and has become a key member of the Red Devils’ side over the years.
