Arsenal FC Women ended its four-year wait to win a title on Sunday with a 3-1 win over London rival, Chelsea FC Women to win the 2022/2023 Continental Tyres Women’s League Cup.

Sam Kerr had given the Blues an early lead in the second minute of play from Guro Reiten’s assist.
The Gunners responded with Stina Blackstenius’ equaliser in the 16th minute at Selhurst Park.
Kim Little’s 24th-minute penalty gave Arsenal the lead before Niamh Charles’ own goal in the additional minutes of the first half.

The win ended Chelsea’s impressive run since opening Women’s Super League (WSL) defeat to Liverpool and made it back-to-back League Cup losses for Emma Hayes’s side after last season’s loss to Manchester City.
The Blues might take succour in the fact that it lost the League Cup last season and ended up with WSL and FA Cup titles.

In the WSL, Alessia Russo’s hat trick lifted Manchester United to a 5-1 win over bottom-placed Leicester City FC Women on Sunday.

Russo have United a 2-0 lead with strikes in the 15th and 36th minutes respectively.
Remy Siemsen pulled a goal back for Leicester City in the 48th minute before Russo completed her hat trick five minutes later.
