The 77 year old Italian former manager who led AC Milan to consecutive European Cup triumph as the Champions League was known then has given his verdict on this year’s final.

Sacchi was speaking with Gazzetta and it was during the interview that he shared his thoughts on the final which has been widely said to be in Manchester City’s favour.

“The Nerazzurri are doing well physically and congratulations must be given to Simone Inzaghi, a good coach and a polite person. He brought the team to the top right at the decisive moment. And he is so wise that he does not react when he substitutes players and they leave the field shaking their heads in discontent. Inzaghi has achieved important results, won two cups, and against Manchester City the result is not written.”

He admitted the English club are the favourites but did reveal what could play in favour of the Nerazzurri.

“Are the English favoured? They have great quality, agreed. Guardiola was able to wake up the whole group, now they attack the spaces, they move on the pitch, they don’t rely only on technique. But Inter, believe me, has its chances because we Italians, in important moments, always know how to be there, we bring out that extra something that others do not have. It’s a virtue of ours that needs to be protected.”

He concluded by saying that City will have to earn the result against Inter but could also be punished should they fail to pay attention to details.

“Will it be a balanced challenge? Let’s say that Manchester City, to win the cup, has to earn it. And they will have to sweat a lot, because Inter have elements that can put anyone in trouble. Guardiola knows he cannot make any mistakes because, when you make a mistake against a tactician like Inzaghi, the tactician does not forgive you.”

Meanwhile…

A report coming from England via Tuttomercatoweb has it they Juventus winger Dejan Kulusevski will be returned permanently by Spurs.

Tottenham Hotspur signed the Swedish international from the Italian club in January of 2022 for an initial 18 month loan deal which was to be made permanent at the end of this campaign.

Kulusevski started like a house on fire at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium but suffered a dip in form following the departure of Antonio Conte.

That’s has put serious doubt over the chances of the North London club keeping him permanently.

However, a report from Football London has it that the club will sign him permanently despite the failure to qualify for the Champions League which is one of the clauses in the contract that determines his retention.
