Full-back Ana María Guzmán has moved from Colombian first-division club Deportivo Pereira to reigning German Bundesliga women’s champions, FC Bayern Munich.

The 18-year-old signs a four-year contract. Most recently, Guzmán was part of the Colombia squad at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand and celebrated the historic quarter-finals with her national team.

Born in Mistrató, Guzmán started playing football at the age of six and left her hometown at the age of eleven to join Club Atlético Dosquebradas.

In 2022 she moved to city rivals Deportivo Pereira and signed her first professional contract. She appeared 21 times for the club in the Colombian first division.

Her great talent was discovered early, and in 2021 she was called up for the Colombia senior national team for the first time as a 16-year-old.

In 2022, Guzmán took part in two world championships. She won the World Cup silver medal with the Colombian U17 team and reached the quarterfinals of the final tournament with the U20 team.

This was followed by her debut for the senior national team and appointment to this year’s World Cup squad. In the round of 16, the full-back prepared the decisive goal in Colombia’s 1-0 win.
