Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos highlighted that Bafana Bafana put in a lot of effort in their penalty shootout loss to the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

“We played a very good game against Nigeria, we showed that we’re a good team, when you eventually get eliminated after 120 minutes and penalty shootout, it’s always a big disappointment,” Broos told the media during the pre-match press conference.

Broos further stated that it was a big disappointment for the coaching staffs and players not to reach the final of 2023 AFCON tournament.

“It’s a big disappointment for me but I’m proud of my players, we’ve had a very good AFCON campaign in general despite not making it to the finals.”

Reacting to matchup against DR Congo at the pre-match press conference, Broos told reporters: “The match tomorrow is very special, it depends on which team would’ve mentally recovered from their respective semi-final defeat on Wednesday.

“I hope my players would’ve shaken off the semi-final loss to Nigeria, some players will not be available for tomorrow’s game due to suspension and injuries,” Broos said.

Broos concluded the pre-match press conference by listing the players poised to miss the third-place clash against DR Congo.

“We’ve a little bit problems in terms of injuries and suspension for tomorrow’s match, we hope to be 100% ready for the match like we’ve previously done in our six previous encounters,” Broos concluded his pre-match press conference.

Coach Emerse Faé of Cote d’Ivoire said that leading his team to the 2023 AFCON final was “like a dream” after orchestrating an incredible comeback.

Following Equatorial Guinea’s group stage humiliation, the Elephants looked away and downcast. However, three consecutive knockout victories have set up an unlikely championship match with Nigeria.

Appointed mid-tournament following Jean-Louis Gasset’s dismissal, Faé believes this quick recovery is a dream. He beamingly said, “I am very happy, very moved, it’s like a dream,” following his 1-0 victory over DR Congo.
