English Women’s Super League (WSL) side, Aston Villa Women have announced the signing of Adriana Leon from Manchester United.

More Details

The Canadian international joins on a two-year deal and becomes Carla Ward’s sixth summer signing.

Leon, 30, joins having had previous spells in England with West Ham United and Manchester United.

The winger adds further depth to Villa’s forward line after the permanent arrivals of Kirsty Hanson and Ebony Salmon.

“He Has Always Dreamed And I’m Convinced That He Still Dreams Of Playing For Real Madrid”

Carla Ward said on Aston Villa’s website: “Adriana is someone we’ve monitored over the last 18 months and is someone who has displayed great pedigree in the Barclays WSL.”

“She can play off both sides and will add another dimension to our evolving group.”

“We’re delighted she’s committed her future to us and we’re all looking forward to working with her.”

Meanwhile…

Melanie Leupolz has officially announced her retirement from the German women’s National Team.

After 79 caps for the two-time World champions, she won the Olympic gold in 2016, Euro 2013, and 2012 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup silver medal.

The 29-year-old signed with Chelsea three years ago, but has been restricted to just 30 appearances over the past two seasons due to injuries and then maternity leave.

She signed a new long-term contract earlier this year, and hopefully, she can now return to being just as impactful as she had been during the 2020/2021 season when the Blues made it all the way to the Women’s Champions League final.
